Hulihan shortbread
This recipe is way better than the
store bought expensive shortbread sold in stores at Christmas time.
The egg makes this unique. Most shortbread recipes do not call for egg.

John and Maggie Go To America
I have known this for a while but here is the actual record of Johannes (Johannes is the Latin name for John...and Jan is the Polish name for John). They came in a tCastle Garden in New York...Ellis Island did not start admitting immigrants until 1892.
Here is the family mystery: In the 1900 census, Maggie declared that she had given birth to 7 children and that 5 were now alive. Since there was an unusual span of years between Anton and Marie, I think she had 2 babies that died in the years between the births of Marie and Anton (5 or 6 year span). Who were these children?

From Byszewo Microfilm
I ordered a microfilm from Salt Lake City and found Joannes (Latin for John) Cyra on it. I am still trying to translate it and when I do it successfully, I will publish it on this blog. For now, here it is for safe keeping.
